Fossil Sea Lion and Mako Shark Tooth - Bakersfield, CA

This is a .7" long, partially rooted Allodesmus canine tooth and a .8" long Mako shark tooth from Sharktooth Hill near Bakersfield, CA. Both of these fossils have been mounted in sandstone from the same location they were found.

Allodesmus is an extinct genus of pinniped (Sea Lion) from the Miocene. It measured about 8 feet long and weighed 800 pounds.
