2.1" Beta Quartz Crystals on Lustrous Bladed Hematite - England

This is a pristine association of beta quartz crystals and lustrous bladed hematite rosettes that was collected from the Florence Mine in England. The quartz crystals are in excellent condition with only some minor chipping to the termination of one crystal along the edge.

This gorgeous specimen has been mounted to an acrylic display base.

Hematite is a fairly common mineral, typically responsible for the red-brown colorations found in other minerals and rocks. Its chemical composition is Fe2O3, occasionally containing small amounts of titanium (variable formula (Fe,Ti)2O3). Much of the time, non-crystalline hematite specimens are the result of a transformation from limonite following loss of water.
