8.3" Miocene Fossil Crab (Tumidocarcinus) - New Zealand
This is a giant fossil crab of the species Tumidocarcinus giganteus from New Zealand. It's Miocene in age (15-20 million years old) and 8.3 inches wide including the legs. It was found in a very hard concretion that was split open and then professionally prepared go further expose the carapace, legs and claws. These crabs are getting hard to come by and take dozens of hours of preparation time due to the hardness of the rock.
