Bulk Small Perisphinctes Ammonite Fossils - 5 Pack

 
 
These are small Perisphinctes ammonite fossils from Madagascar. They range from 1/2" to 1 1/4" in size, averaging about 1". These ammonites are Late Jurassic in age or approximately 160 million years old and were collected near Sakaraha, Madagascar.

You will receive five ammonite fossil chosen at random from the box. An ID card will be included for each specimen. The photos are representative of what the fossil looks like. These fossils are great for educational use or gifts for kids.

Ammonites were predatory mollusks that resembled a squid with a shell. These cephalopods had eyes, tentacles, and spiral shells. They are more closely related to a living octopus, though the shells resemble that of a nautilus. Ammonites appeared in the fossil record about 240 million years ago and they barely survived several major extinction events. The last lineages disappeared 65 million years ago at the end of the Cretaceous.
