1.8" Metallic Pyrargyrite Crystals on Quartz - Mexico

This is a cluster of metallic-grey pyrargyrite crystals that formed from a quartz encrusted matrix. This specimen was collected from Zacatecas, Mexico

Pyrargyrite is a complex sulfide mineral known as a sulfosalt. The crystals are a combination of silver, antimony, and sulfur atoms that together bear the chemical formula Ag3SbS3. Small crystals of pyrargyrite are often ruby red in color, but larger crystals can be a metallic grey to greyish-black.
