Two Associated Allosaurus Caudal Vertebrae With Stand - Colorado

This is a pair of associated caudal (tail) vertebrae of an Allosaurus collected this past summer from our partners private quarry east of Dinosaur, Colorado. They are part of a partial, articulated tail that was found in the quarry, but unfortunately the rest of the animal had long since eroded away. The individual vertebra were carefully prepared from the hard stand stone they were found in and individually mounted on custom metal display stands.

Both of these vertebrae would have been right next to each other in the tail and have been mounted together. The centrums are in good condition, though much of the process spines have been reconstructed as they bone was very crumbly.

These custom mounted, fossil Allosaurus vertebrae are spectacular display pieces and will sell quickly as we don't get individual allosaurus bones in very often.

Allosaurus was a genus of carnosaurian theropod that lived from 156 to 145 million years ago during the Late Jurassic. Allosaurus species were predators with massive skulls, serrated teeth, and gaping jaws. This powerful and plentiful carnivore genus could grow more than 30 feet long. Their fossils are abundant in the Morrison Formation, leading some to suggest that Allosaurus species may have been pack hunters.
