Serrated, 1.8" Tyrannosaur Tooth - Judith River Formation, Montana

This is a 1.8" long Tyrannosaur tooth from the Judith River Formation of Montana. This formation is approximately 70 million years old, or about 5 million years old than the Hell Creek Formation which produces T-Rex. Comes with a floating frame display case.

The serrations along both edges and the enamel of the tooth remained in excellent condition. There are two repaired cracks through the tooth, one near the and one through the tip. The serrations have some minor chips at the points of breakage. Overall this tooth is in great shape!

Three species of tyrannosaur have been described from the Two Medicine & Judith River Formations: Albertosaurus, Gorgosaurus and Daspletosaurus. Research done on teeth from these three tyrannosaurs has concluded that isolated teeth are statistically impossible to assign to a specific genus because they are so similar.
