Beautifully Preserved Pliomera Trilobite

This is a uncommonly seen but perfectly reserved Russian trilobite, Pliomera fischeri. It was from the Lower Ordovician rocks near St. Peterburg, Russia. The preparation on this specimen is fantastic and it is pretty much pristine in the restoration department with only a pin size touchup on top the right eye. The hypostome or mouth plate is even exposed on the underside of it's head.

This trilobite literally looks like it is about to crawl off of the edge of the rock.
