9.1" Phareodus & Knightia Fossil Fish - Wyoming

This is an excellent, natural association of a large, 9.1" long Phareodus and two Knightia eocaena from the Green River Formation of Wyoming. This plate was collected this past summer at the Fossil Lake Safari Quarry near Kemmerer. Excellent preservation on all three fish. We have backed the rock with concrete board for stability which also makes it easy to attach a wall hanger to the plate.

If you look closely you can see how Phareodus has a mouthful of sharp pointy teeth making is a voracious lake predator. In fact the name Phareodus actually means "to have tooth" Spines from other fish such as Mioplosus and Priscacara have frequently been found preserved in it's stomach.
