6.9" String of Ichthyosaurus Vertebrae - Whitby, England

This is a beautiful and sturdy string of six Ichthyosaur (Ichthyosaurus sp.) vertebrae that have been prepped free from the rock they were found in. Some of the rock that contains vertebral processes has been left attached to the string. It was collected from the Upper Lias - Bifrons Zone at North Yorkshire in England.

Comes with a display stand.

("Fish Lizard") was a giant marine reptile which thrived from much of the Mesozoic era. They evolved in the mid Triassic from a group of unidentified land reptiles which transition back into the water. This line evolved in parallel to the ancestors of todays dolphins and whales, something known as convergent evolution.
