5.2" Fossil Cycad (Pterozamites) Flora Plate - Rajmahal Hills, India

This is a beautiful fossil cycad plate (subgenera Pterophyllum) from the Jurassic aged Rajmahal Formation of India. Pterozamites is the genus for cycads whose pinnae are attached to the stem by the entire breadth of their base, and is not to be confused with modern fish of the genus Pterophyllum. Pterozamites encompasses five separate subgenera, including Pterophyllum, Taeniopteroides, Nilssonis, Clenis and Aspleniopteris.
