4" Wide Stellascolites Trace Fossil (Arthropod Resting Area)

This is an interesting, Ordovician aged trace fossil known as Stellascolites. They are believed to be a preserved resting area of an arthropod-type animal. They have a radiating starlike shape to them, and have been found in Ordovician aged sediments around the world.

This particular example is 4" wide, and was found in the Erfoud area of Morocco. The fossil forms deep impressions in the siltstone matrix which measures 8x7"
