This is a 4.8" wide specimen that contains a folded fossil horsetail (Calamites) stalk section from the Breathitt Formation of Leslie County, Kentucky. Calamites is an extinct genus of tree-like horsetails from the Late Carboniferous, Pennsylvanian aged forests that formed the coal shales of Kentucky and Ohio.

Comes with an acrylic display stand.
