2.65" Asaphus Plautini Trilobite With Exposed Hypostome - Russia

This is a good-sized, 2.65" long, prone specimen of Asaphus plautini, one of the scarcer of the many species of Asaphid trilobites found near St. Petersburg, Russia. It was found at the Vilpovitsy quarry and is Lower Ordovician in age, or approximately 460 million years old. The underside of the head has been prepared so that the hypostome (mouth-plate) has been exposed.

There is some shell restoration along repaired cracks in the shell and on the center of the head.
