This is a beautifully prepared string of twelve articulated Ichthyosaur (Ichthyosaurus cf. acutirostris) vertebra. The entire string measures 6.7" long and all of the vertebra of very 3D, with partial processes attached. It was collected from the Upper Lias - Bifrons Zone at Port Mulgrave in North Whitby, England. A very aesthetic display piece.

("Fish Lizard") was a giant marine reptile which thrived from much of the Mesozoic era. They evolved in the mid Triassic from a group of unidentified land reptiles which transition back into the water. This line evolved in parallel to the ancestors of todays dolphins and whales, something known as convergent evolution.
