11.8" Struthiomimus Metatarsal - Two Medicine Formation

This is a nicely preserved, 11.8" long metatarsal (toe) bone of Struthiomimus collected this past summer from the Two Medicine Formation in Montana. The preservation is excellent with some some erosion to the very ends and a few stabilized cracks.

Struthiomimus were long-legged, bipedal, ostrich-like dinosaurs with toothless beaks. It was estimated that they could reach a size of approximately 13 feet in length. It's thought that due to their abundance, they must have been herbivores or omnivores.
